The Free Lottie Layer Hider Online

Need to hide a layer in a Lottie animation without opening After Effects? Our free online layer hider lists every layer with an on/off switch so you can show or hide any of them in seconds.

Hiding is non-destructive — the layer stays in the file but becomes invisible, so nothing breaks and you can bring it back anytime. Perfect for making variants or removing a distracting element. Everything runs locally in your browser.

How to Hide a Layer in a Lottie Animation

Toggling layer visibility by hand means hunting through JSON. This tool surfaces every layer for you:

Preview live and download

Watch the animation update instantly, then download the edited Lottie JSON.

No After Effects, no account, no server uploads — toggle layers in seconds.

Key Features

Per-Layer Toggle

Every top-level layer gets its own switch, labeled with the layer’s real name and type so you always know what you are toggling.

Non-Destructive Hiding

Hidden layers stay in the file but are made invisible, keeping the structure and parent relationships valid — fully reversible.

Show All / Hide All

Flip every layer at once with a single click — handy for building a minimal version or isolating a single element.

Live Preview

See the animation update the instant you toggle a layer — no render step, no waiting.

Popular Use Cases

Create Animation Variants

Hide a badge, label, or decorative element to produce alternate versions of one animation from a single source file.

Remove a Distracting Element

Quickly switch off a layer that fights with your content — no need to re-export from After Effects.

Isolate a Layer

Hide everything except one layer to inspect it on its own and understand how the animation is built.

Build Light / Minimal Versions

Hide heavy or secondary layers to create a simpler, lighter-feeling animation for constrained UI.

Hide Placeholder / Guide Layers

Switch off guide, grid, or placeholder layers that were left in the export before shipping the file.

Quick A/B of Compositions

Toggle layers on and off to compare composition options before committing to a final design.

Pro Tips

Layer names come from the file

The list uses the names set in the source animation. Unnamed layers show a numbered fallback like “Layer 2”.

Hidden is not deleted

Hiding sets a layer’s opacity to zero. The layer remains in the file, so you can re-enable it anytime by toggling it back on.

Toggle parents and children together

Hiding a parent layer does not hide layers attached to it. If a group should disappear, switch off each related layer.

Combine with the Asset Extractor

Use the Asset Extractor to see which images belong to which layers, then hide the ones you don’t need.

Privacy and Security

We take your privacy seriously. Unlike most online converters that upload your files to remote servers, our tool processes everything locally.

No uploads – Your files are processed entirely in your browser. They never touch our servers.

No tracking – We don't log which files you convert or what settings you use.

No accounts – Use the tool immediately. No registration, no personal data required.

Inspect it yourself – Open DevTools and watch the network tab. You'll see zero file uploads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Lottie animations and our tools.

How do I hide a layer in a Lottie animation?

Upload your Lottie JSON file, then toggle off any layer in the list. The preview updates instantly and the layer becomes invisible in the downloaded file.

Does hiding a layer delete it?

No. The layer is kept in the file but made invisible (its opacity is set to zero), so the structure and any parent relationships stay intact. You can show it again anytime.

Which layers can I toggle?

Every top-level layer in the animation is listed by its name (or a numbered fallback) and type, each with its own on/off switch.

Will hiding a parent layer hide its children?

Hiding a layer makes that layer’s own artwork invisible. Layers parented to it for positioning are not automatically hidden — toggle them off too if you want them gone.

Why would I hide a layer instead of deleting it?

Hiding keeps the file valid and reversible — no broken references. It is perfect for creating variants of an animation or removing a distracting element quickly.

Does this change colors, size, or timing?

No. Only the visibility (opacity) of the layers you toggle is changed. Everything else is untouched.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The entire process happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no registration, watermarks, or usage limits.
