The Best Free Lottie Opacity Adjuster Online
Need to change the opacity of a Lottie animation without opening After Effects? Our free online opacity adjuster fades or sets the transparency of every layer at once — in seconds, right in your browser.
Scale mode multiplies existing opacity (and keeps your fade animations), while Set mode forces every layer to a single value. Perfect for watermarks, overlays, and disabled states. Nothing is uploaded — it all runs locally and privately.
How to Adjust Lottie Opacity Online
Changing opacity used to mean editing each layer in After Effects. Now you can do it in one move:
Upload your Lottie JSON file
Drag and drop or click to browse. We accept standard .json files up to 10MB.
Choose Scale or Set
Scale multiplies every layer’s current opacity by your percentage. Set forces every layer to the exact value you pick.
Drag the opacity slider
Move the slider (or type a value) from 0 to 100. The preview updates instantly as you go.
Download
Save the adjusted Lottie JSON. The new opacity is baked in and plays everywhere.
No After Effects, no account, no server uploads — adjust opacity in under a minute.
Why Choose Our Opacity Adjuster?
A few reasons this is the simplest way to change Lottie transparency:
Bulk Opacity Control
Adjust every layer in one move instead of editing them one by one. The whole animation fades together, consistently.
Scale vs Set Modes
Scale keeps relative differences between layers; Set makes everything uniformly transparent. Pick the behavior that fits your goal.
Animation-Preserving
Scale mode keeps your animated opacity keyframes intact and just scales their values, so fade-ins and pulses still play.
Live Preview
See the transparency change the instant you move the slider — no render step, no waiting.
Common Use Cases for Adjusting Lottie Opacity
Opacity control turns one animation into many subtle variations:
Watermarks & Overlays
Drop opacity to make an animation a subtle, semi-transparent watermark or decorative overlay.
Background Dimming
Tone down a busy background animation so foreground content and text stay readable.
Disabled / Ghost States
Create a faded version of an icon animation to represent a disabled or inactive UI state.
Fade-In Base
Lower the baseline opacity so the animation reads as a soft, understated accent.
Consistency Across a Set
Apply the same opacity to a batch of animations so a whole icon set feels uniform.
Layer Behind UI
Make an animation translucent so it can sit behind buttons and content without overpowering them.
Tips for Better Results
To get the most out of the opacity adjuster:
Scale preserves fades
If your animation fades in or pulses, use Scale mode so those opacity animations keep working at the new level.
Set for uniform transparency
When you want every layer at the same opacity regardless of its original value, use Set mode.
0% means invisible
Setting opacity to 0 makes layers fully transparent. Keep a little opacity (e.g. 10-20%) for a faint ghost effect.
Combine with Color Swapper
Pair a lower opacity with recolored layers (via the Color Swapper) to fully restyle an animation for a new context.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Lottie animations and our tools.
How do I change a Lottie animation’s opacity?
Upload your Lottie JSON file, then drag the opacity slider. In Scale mode every layer’s opacity is multiplied by your value; in Set mode every layer is forced to the value. Download when it looks right.
What is the difference between Scale and Set mode?
Scale multiplies each layer’s existing opacity by your percentage (so a 50% layer at 50% scale becomes 25%), preserving relative differences and fade animations. Set forces every layer to exactly the chosen opacity.
Does it keep my opacity animations?
Scale mode keeps animated opacity keyframes and just scales their values, so fades still play. Set mode replaces opacity with a single fixed value (no animation).
Can I make an animation semi-transparent?
Yes. Set the slider to, say, 40% in Scale mode to make the whole animation 40% as opaque — perfect for watermarks or background overlays.
Does this change colors or size?
No. Only layer transform opacity is changed. Colors, dimensions, and timing are untouched. Use the Color Swapper or Resizer for those.
Does it affect every layer?
Yes. The adjustment is applied to every layer’s transform opacity, including layers inside precompositions.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The entire adjustment happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device.
Is it free?
Completely free, with no registration, watermarks, or usage limits.
